On the other side, the software part doesn’t go that smoothly and the latest reports suggest it won’t be ready for the initial launch. It would rather come as a kind of software update, which will be available for download in the future. Simply said, if you buy a 2023 Volvo XC90, you won’t be able to use this system but once the software is ready, you will be able to download it and enjoy this kind of transportation.
2023 Volvo XC90 Redesign
Of course, the new system of autonomous driving won’t be the only big novelty for the 2023 Volvo XC90. We are about to see a complete overhaul, which will bring a completely new design. In terms of the styling, we count on the evolution of the current design, rather than on some radical changes. The overall shape will certainly remain the same, but the front face will be slightly revised, particularly in terms of headlights and grill, which should bring a more futuristic appearance. Many fans are looking for V6 or even V8 configurations. But, don’t let the lack of cylinders trick you. The XC90 can get up to 400 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque with the T8 setup. It is the plug-in hybrid, where electric support boosts a supercharged engine. A 2.0-liter four-pot is also available with turbochargers only. This one is called T6 and delivers 315 horsepower. An eight-speed automatic transmission is going to forward power to all wheels in either T6 or T8 layout.

The MSRP of the new SUV will depend on the level of changes we see. The T6 configuration is going to start under $60,000. All other upgrades are making the 2023 Volvo XC90 pretty expensive. For example, the Inscription version will add around $10k in features, and one of them could be autonomous drive, replacing a current pilot assist. The SUV is going to introduce a new look by the end of 2023.
