2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, Specs, Redesign, & Spy Photos. The 2023 RAV4 will arrive with another mid-cycle facelift. This popular crossover will now look bolder than its predecessor. The exterior design is also sharper than before, but the RAV4 model will keep its recognizable styling. Some things will carry over, but changes are greater than welcome.

As before, a hybrid powertrain is available, and RAV4 also comes with the TRD Off-Road trim level. We are still awaiting the Japanese manufacturer to release more details, but we already know more than enough about this arriving model.

The sixth-generation 2023 Toyota RAV4 will receive a mild update, resulting in, a bolder and rugged styling. Alongside this model, Toyota will refresh a few more SUVs from its lineup. Generally, we can expect the new Toyota RAV4 to remain a carryover model when it hits showrooms later this year.

Like the predecessor, the new one will feature the same customization trims. The favorite one is a TRD Off-Road that should bring extraordinary off-road abilities and a rugged look. Under the hood, the same engines remain, and the Toyota RAV4 offers three options.

2023 Toyota RAV4 Engine Details

Under its hood, the new 2023 Toyota RAV4 includes three different engine variants. The first engine consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit with 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The power of this unit flows through an eight-speed automatic transmission and front wheels as standard.

However, a more efficient RAV4 hybrid is available as well, containing a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, two electric motors, and a great lithium-ion battery. Unlike the first engine, this set comes with all-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The estimated fuel average economy is 40 mpg, resulting in greater than 600 miles on a full tank.

2023 RAV4 Facelift

The all-new 2023 Toyota RAV4 won’t change drastically. Its recognizable appearance remains, but some visual updates will happen. For a start, this crossover was recently redesigned. Because of that, Toyota is in no rush to introduce dramatic changes. The RAV4 model features a rugged look and beautiful styling. Its design is recognizable and the palette of exterior paints is simply amazing. Toyota will try to deliver a more attractive look by introducing sharper lines and new colors.

Furthermore, the front fascia will gain minor updates, such as revised headlights and a slightly bolder grille. A two-tone exterior paint scheme is optional and it looks gorgeous in our honest opinion. 17-inch wheels are standard once again. We think the RAV4 model looks sporty, but its TRD Off-Road trim level is the real deal in regards to sportiness.

Interior Changes

On the inside, the new 2023 Toyota RAV4 will look better than ever. Toyota plans to deliver more premium materials, mostly soft-touch surfaces. This crossover will get more standard features and new driver-assistance. The infotainment system is up to date and RAV4 also delivers ample interior room. It is a small crossover, but 69.8 cubic feet of cargo space is more than enough.

If you want the RAV4 Prime model with a hybrid powertrain, the interior room will be slightly compromised. A 7-inch touchscreen remains standard, and an 8-inch unit will be optional in the entry-level models. You can choose between numerous trim levels and upper trims are offering more luxury and more standard equipment.

RAV4 and RAV4 Prime Specs

Nothing will change under the hood, so the 2023 Toyota RAV4 is a carryover. There will be three different engine options. The first one is a familiar 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 203 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard, just like the front-wheel-drive system. A 2.5-liter engine also comes in a combination of two electric motors and a battery pack.

It is a hybrid system that delivers 40 mpg, which is great. The AWD system comes as standard. The RAV4 Prime is the newest model and it offers a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It also includes a larger battery so it provides 42 miles of all-electric driving range. Furthermore, RAV4 Prime cranks out 302 horsepower.

2023 Toyota RAV4 Exterior Updates

The 2023 Toyota RAV4 looks better shaped than the previous model. Generally, the last year’s model is completely redesigned, and the new one only gains mild updates. Basically, the generic lines of the predecessor are gone, and the new RAV4 has more attractiveness thanks to its big grille and the stylish front geometric shapes throughout the body.

Depending upon the trim level, the design attractiveness will vary. For example, 2-tone paint schemes and a tough-looking wheel will stand out from the rest of models. Besides, the RAV4 model comes standard with 17-inch wheels, but 18-inch and 19-inch options are available as well. More sporty styling one can found choosing eider the Adventure or TRD Off-Road trims. Both ones come with black body cladding, large over-fenders, and model-specific front bumpers.

Interior Layout and Trim Features

The cabin of the 2023 Toyota RAV4 is the finest that you can found in the compact crossover class. Generally, everything looks upscale, thanks to plenty of premium and soft-touch materials. The cabin is also very spacious, and RAV4 behind the rear seats has 37.5 cubic feet of the luggage area. Folding those seats down opens 69.8 cubic feet of maximum cargo space, which is more than enough for every goodie. The RAV4 Prime, because of the battery placed under the floor, offers a little lower number 33.5/ 63.2 cubic feet.

The new Toyota RAV4 features the same center stack with a crisp 7-inch screen on base or 8-inch in Limited, Adventure, and TRD models in terms of techs. Alongside, Toyota offers standard equipment like navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa. The XSE trim is a better option because it spices things up even more with blue accents and stitching. The Adventure version is available as well, offering more splashes of orange inside, wireless charging, and the JBL 11-speaker/800-watt audio system.

Prime Specs

The last one and the most favorite is the RAV4 Prime PHEV model. This engine contain a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine and a pair of electric motors, and a larger lithium-ion battery. It delivers 302 horses, and it can also travel for up to 42 miles.

Release Date and Price

The upcoming 2023 Toyota RAV4 will be more attractive, but it will, unfortunately, gain only mild changes over the previous generation. Toyota didn’t reveal any information regarding its official release date, but we can expect it to become introduced later this year.

Pricing of the RAV4 is not yet officially revealed. Generally, we expect its MSRP to remain near the current model. There are no significant changes in the works, so the price might be the same for the base model, starting at $27,000. Naturally, more equipment means more money, so, except fully loaded RAV4 to easily pass $40k.
