The upcoming Kia Sorento Plug-In Hybrid will provide a lot of power, surprisingly. The first-even Sorento Hybrid will use a 1.6-liter four-cylinder and combine it with an electric motor. Total output is rated at 261 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. To compare, 1.6-liter gasoline is capable of producing 177 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of twisting power.
Moreover, a 3.3-liter V6 that powered the 2022 Sorento produced 290 horses. A 13.8-kWh lithium-ion battery pack is available, but we don’t know the exact mileage specs. We are pretty sure that Kia will provide astonishing fuel efficiency. A six-speed automatic transmission remains, and the all-wheel-drive system will be offered as standard.

In terms of design, the new 2022 Kia Sorento Plug-In Hybrid won’t depart from the conventional Sorento model. That means the styling is identical. The only difference is the “eco-plug-in” badges and a charging port that sits on the passenger side. As we said, Sorento made its debut earlier this year, and it looks like a brand-new SUV.
Design cues are taken from the Telluride model, so the new Sorento looks more aggressive than the outgoing model. The front part hosts sleeker LED headlights and the grille that is more prominent now. The rear section will sport new vertical taillights, while the side profile offers sharper lines. The customers can choose between 19, 20, and 21-inch wheels.

Kia added more leather and chrome materials this year, mostly in the door and around the dash. Comfort is better, and the cabin is generally spacious, even in the third row of seats. Cargo area is also improved, thanks to the new platform, so the new Sorento is also 1.4 inches longer than its predecessor.
PRICE AND RELEASE DATE
While the all-new Sorento SUV will start at $30,000, the approaching 2022 Kia Sorento Plug-In Hybrid will cost around $35,000. Kia is yet to confirm all of the specifications for the US-spec Sorento and its plug-in hybrid variant. This SUV will hit the dealerships by the end of 2022.
